Thanks to my dear cousin Ashwini for these wonderful desi recipes of Tulasi ( basil leaves)!
Both the chutneys of above pic are prepared using shree tulasi ( white tulasi) , the sacred plant. Tulasi leaves are good for health to boost the immunity. Good source of antioxidants and vitamin K. Popular Home remedy for allergies and infection.. Alleged to promote eye and skin health.
Three different varieties of tulasi chutneys you can try if you love its flavour..
To get the greenish white chutney: fry tulasi leaves with sambar soppu or coriander( optional) , add green chilli, coconut, tamarind and salt as per taste and blend to get easy and short cut tulasi chutney. Garnish with mustard and chopped tulasi fried in oil to get wonderful tulasi aroma!
Red chutney as in pic above is my favorite as it has a very unique flavour of tulasi.. Try this definitely.. Fry tulasi leaves with chopped tomatoes, onions, capsicum, garlic and red chilli. Blend well in mixi with salt, tamarind (if you want it more sour )and only little water. Warm it in thick bottom pan. Garnish as before. Goes well with dosa, chapathi, roti, poori and can use for bread sandwich also..
Alternatively
Take Three tomatoes, cook in water wholly Then peel them , Mash them. Fry finely chopped onion, 3 cloves of garlic. Add mashed tomato, chilli powder n salt to taste. Add two spoons of chopped Tulasi.
Thanks to my cousin Ashwini for the inspiration and creative ideas.. Keep sharing your desi recipes and experiments👍
