Bread fruit or beruhalasinakayi is used in traditional cooking in a variety of ways.

Peel and make small pieces of breadfruit. Cook in a vessel or pressure cook just for one whistle. Keep aside. Prepare the masala with cooking oil, garlic, ginger, cumin, coriander, mustard, clove, green chilli and fry. Blend with grated coconut and tamarind. Now add the masala to the cooked breadfruit pieces. Add salt as per taste and bring to boil. Seasoning done with mustard and urad dal and curry leaves and red chilli pieces.
