Raw papaya recipes by Ashwini

      This time I have a collection of wonderful and innovative desi recipes by Ashwini, my dear cousin and I am really elated to share these mouth watering desi dishes. 

      I knew only sabji recipe using raw papaya and these awesome colourful and varieties of raw papaya recipes by Ashwini really left me dumbstruck! Believe me.. kiddoos will definitely like it..

       Tutti fruity



  Cut papaya into tiny pieces

Add 1 cup sugar n 3/4th cup water

Boil for sugar syrup

Once u make syrup

Put papaya pieces n boil till they r semi cooked

Leave it over night in sugar syrup

Then drain sugar syrup

Add food colour

Or add beetroot rasa n kesari to get desi colors!!




Papaya halwa




Grate unripe papaya

Fry with ghee

Then add jaggery (I use liquid so for 1 cup papaya 3/4th cup jaggery)

Add gasgase (poppy seeds) three spoons, roasted cashew n almond 

Little salt

Cook till semi soft..you would live it if you have sweet tooth!


Papaya parata




Grate papaya, Add salt, om kaalu, chilli powder, chaat masala, make paratha with wheat flour.. Simple and differently flavoured paratha is ready!


Papaya pakoda






Grate raw papaya

Dry roast 2 spoons of coriander seeds, one spoon each of Jeera n til, half spoon of meethi n fennel seeds

Grind them dry

Add maida n corn flour to grated papaya 

Add masala powder, ginger n chilli powder to this... Add salt to taste

Mix with water...

Roll into balls, flatten n fry to get yummy crispy papaya pakodas! Totally exotic!!


Papaya bajji



Same masala powder, chilli powder n salt in besan n rice flour... Mix with water to form liquid batter... Slice papaya thin.. Dip in batter n fry


Papaya is rich in vitamin A, proteins, iron and also antioxidants.. Health benefits are innumerable.. But not to be used excessively as alleged to increase body heat and raw papaya better be avoided in pregnancy.
